If you are on the hunt for 1 year degree programs, you are not alone. Many students are looking for accelerated online classes to help speed up the time it takes to earn a degree. One year degrees are a somewhat unique product in the educational market. With an associate’s degree, you probably won’t get rich quick, but you’ll be able to afford your mortgage or rent and still put food on the table. Some of the more common associate degrees offered online are in accounting, business, education, psychology, and legal studies, among others. There are quite a few universities that are offering accelerated 8- week classes. By enrolling in programs that offer classes that are half the length of standard semesters, you are able to earn college credits in half the time. Nice. Remember, it may take you longer than 1 year to complete your degree program. It depends on how many classes you take at a time, the number of college credits you have already earned, and whether you are able to test out of some of your classes. The colleges do not make any guarantees that you will earn your degree at a faster pace, they simply offer classes at an accelerated pace. It is up to you to work with your student adviser to discuss transferring existing college credits, take exams (such as CLEP exams) to earn college credit, or to find out if you can use military or work experience to apply towards the requirements of your degree plan. Programs vary widely by school, so be sure to check with your adviser. Certificate Programs. Another option here is to even step back from a full associate’s degree. Depending on your goals, you can pursue a lesser form of that degree called a certificate program, and you can do so from the comfort of your own home. Fields such as software development, information technology, business, accounting, medical assisting, and office applications are available under this format. Bachelor’s Degrees. The option to obtain a one year bachelor’s degree is out there. I have actually encountered people who have met the challenge and won. However, they had no life while doing so. Their entire life was made up entirely of testing and school. Personally, I would strongly advise against shooting for 1 year to complete a bachelor’s degree program. After all, the point of your education is to receive an education, not just blow through your courses with blazing speed. That being said, you can speed up the time required to earn your bachelor’s degree through a number of proven methods. Before we dive into these methods, make sure that the college you select is accredited. Otherwise, all of your efforts will be in vain. It is important to note that earning a bachelor’s degree in 1 year is highly improbable. It would be more reasonable to shoot for two years (or even two and a half years), and even then, everything has to fall into place perfectly. Your best bet is to enroll at an accredited university offering accelerated 8 week courses online. Some methods you can use to speed up the time it takes to earn your degree: CLEP exams. DSST/DANTES exams. ACE – Accredited Corporate Courses. DLPT – Defense Language Proficiency Test. Law Enforcement Training. Pilot’s License. Real Estate License. Institutional Credit- by- Examination. Professional Licenses. Professional Training (some colleges offer credit if you have proof/paperwork)Military Training (most universities offer a certain amount of credit for military training)Credit from previous college coursework. Obviously, you will need to have quite a bit of life experience, job experience, professional training, the ability to test out of classes, and even previous college credits that you can transfer into the program. It is important to note that every university treats this type of alternative credit differently. I was able to test out of 1. I was able to earn 1. This gave me 3. 6 credit hours, enough to shave off an entire year (and then some) from my bachelor’s degree. Had I been in the military, had previous college credit, and so on, I could have shaved off even more time. As I said, each person’s situation is unique. I would suggest contacting the adviser at your university to find out how many classes you can test out of, how many credit hours you can transfer into the program, and whether they offer credit for prior learning (typically, this is credit for military training, credentials and training you might have earned on your job, and so on). Most universities refer to this as portfolio credit, alternative credit, or credit for life experience. Again, treatment of this type of non- traditional credit varies widely by university. It isn’t an easy way to earn college credit and typically requires proof in the form of transcripts or documentation, and even letters of reference. In addition to the methods described above, you can also speed up the time it takes to earn your degree by enrolling in accelerated online classes (typically 8- week terms). Master’s Degrees. Master’s degrees in one year are a different animal altogether. The bottom line is that you must have a bachelor’s degree first in order to pursue a master’s degree. If you meet those criteria, then the one year master’s degree option is available, once again, online in an accelerated, distance learning format. The most common accelerated master’s programs are the 1 year MBA and 1 year Master of Education programs, but there are other 1 year degree programs open to you as well. If you attend a university that offers 8- week online classes, you can attend all 5 semesters in one year (some colleges even have 6 semesters in one year by offering Summer- 2). For the sake of discussion, let’s go with the most common format though: Fall- 1, Fall- 2, Summer, Spring- 1, Spring- 2. If you take just 2 classes per term, that’s 6 credit hours per term. Most master’s programs (non- thesis) are just 3. So, if you can manage to take an extra class during two semesters, you can finish in a year (provided your university allows you to finish on that timetable, always check first). Or, you can stretch it out and finish your degree at a more relaxed pace in about 1. That’s still not too shabby. Keep in mind that each university has a limitation on the number of hours you can take per term. I’d advise checking with each university’s academic adviser in advance to find out what you can and can’t do as you pursue your goal of locating 1 year degree programs. Master\'s degree - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. An English- language master\'s degree diploma from India. A master\'s degree. Within the area studied, master\'s graduates are expected to possess advanced knowledge of a specialized body of theoretical and applied topics; high order skills in analysis, critical evaluation, or professional application; and the ability to solve complex problems and think rigorously and independently. Historical development. The original meaning of the master\'s degree was thus that someone who had been admitted to the rank (degree) of master (i. This gradually became formalised as the licentia docendi (licence to teach). Originally, masters and doctors were not distinguished, but by the 1. In the United States, the first master\'s degrees (Magister Artium, or Master of Arts) were awarded at Harvard University soon after its foundation. In 1. 83. 2 Lord Brougham, the Lord Chancellor and an alumnus of the University of Edinburgh, told the House of Lords that . In Scotland all the statutes of the Universities which enforced conditions on the grant of degrees were a dead letter. At the start of the century, the only master\'s degree was the MA, and this was normally awarded without any further study or examination. The Master in Surgery degree was introduced by the University of Glasgow in 1. At the University of Michigan this was introduced in two forms in 1. When London introduced its Faulty of Sciences in 1. In 1. 90. 3, the London Daily News criticised the practice of Oxford and Cambridge, calling their MAs . This was the first master\'s degree in business, the forerunner of the modern MBA. In the 1. 96. 0s, new Scottish universities (with the exception of Dundee, which inherited the undergraduate MA from St Andrews) reintroduced the BA as their undergraduate degree in Arts, restoring the MA to its position as a postgraduate qualification. Oxford and Cambridge retained their MAs, but renamed many of their postgraduate bachelor\'s degrees in the higher faculties as master\'s degrees, e. This specified learning outcomes for M- level (master\'s) degrees and advised that the title . It addressed many of the Dearing Report\'s concerns, specifying that shorter courses at H- level (honours), e. It also addressed the Oxbridge MA issue, noting that . It was specified that the title . Reports of Agency reviews of such provision will relate to undergraduate benchmarks and will make it clear that the title reflects Scottish custom and practice, and that any positive judgement on standards should not be taken as implying that the outcomes of the programme were at postgraduate level. This established a three- cycle bachelor\'s. This led to questions as to the status of the integrated master\'s degrees and one- year master\'s degrees in the UK. The two most common titles of master\'s degrees are the Master of Arts (MA/M. A./A. M) and Master of Science (MSc/M. S./S. M.) degrees; which normally consist of a mixture of research and taught material. A few titles are more general, for example Master of Philosophy (MPhil), used (in the same manner as Doctor of Philosophy) to indicate degrees with a large research component. Master in Science (MSci) and Master in Arts (MArts). This form is also sometimes used with other integrated master\'s degrees. Master\'s in Accounting). Examples of the reversed usage include Harvard University, the University of Chicago and MIT, leading to the abbreviations A. M. B. S., Ph. Despite their titles these are still master\'s degree and may not be referred to as doctoral degrees, nor may graduates use the title . The Oxbridge MA is not an academic qualification; it is granted without further examination to those who have gained a BA from Oxford or Cambridge Universities in England. Examples are the MPhil (always a research degree, often linked to a doctoral programme), MLitt (usually, but not always a research degree) and Master\'s by Research. They aim to prepare students fit research careers. Care should be taken not to confuse the Master by Research (Mby. Res, MRes or Res. M), which is a research degree in a specific subject, with the Master of Research (MRes), which is a taught degree concentrating on research methods. These may be stand- alone master\'s courses, leading to, e. MSc, MA or MRes degrees, or integrated master\'s degrees. Professional or practice master\'s degrees are designed to prepare students for a particular professional career and are primarily taught, although they may include work placements and independent study projects. Some may require professional experience for entry. Examples include MBA, MDiv, LLM and MSW as well as some integrated master\'s degrees. The name of the degree normally includes the subject name. The United States Department of Education classifies master\'s degree as research or professional. Research master\'s degrees in the US, e. Professional master\'s degrees may be structured like research master\'s (e. M. E./M. Eng.) or may concentrate on a specific discipline (e. M. B. A.), and often substitute a project for the thesis. Research master\'s degrees typically take one to two years, and two thirds of their content consists of research, research training and independent study. Coursework master\'s degrees typically also last one to two years, and consist mainly of structured learning with some independent research and project work or practice- related learning. Extended master\'s degrees typically take three to four years and contain significant practice- related learning that must be developed in collaboration with relevant professional, statutory or regulatory bodies. Taught master\'s degrees are normally one to two year courses, rated at 6. ECTS credits, while research master\'s degrees are normally two year courses, either rated at 1. ECTS credits or not credit rated. A dissertation may or may not be required, depending on the program. In general, the structure and duration of a program of study leading to a master\'s degree will differ by country and by university. Duration. In some fields/programs, work on a doctorate begins immediately after the bachelor\'s degree, but a master\'s may be granted along the way as a intermediate qualification if the student petitions for it. Taught degrees (of both forms) typically take a full calendar year (i. The Framework for Higher Education Qualification (FHEQ) in England Wales and Northern Ireland level 7 qualifications and the Framework for Qualification of Higher Education Institutes in Scotland (FQHEIS) level 1. MAs from the ancient universities of Scotland and Oxbridge MAs) have been certified as meeting this requirement. These have also been certified as compatible with the FQ- EHEA. In countries where the bachelor\'s degree with honours is the standard undergraduate degree, this is often the normal entry qualification. Two thirds of EHEA countries have standardised on 1. ECTS credits for their second- cycle (master\'s) degrees, but 9. ECTS credits is the main form in Cyprus, Ireland and Scotland and 6. Montenegro, Serbia and Spain. As of 2. 01. 5, 3. EHEA countries have integrated programmes that combine the first and second cycle and lead to a second- cycle qualification (e. These typically have a duration of 3. The Master\'s Degree or candidatus is a FQ- EHEA second- cycle qualification worth 1. ECTS credits. These degrees are research- based and offered through universities. The second form is the Master Degree (no possessive) within the adult further education system, which is worth 6. ECTS credits and is taught part- time. Similar abbreviations, inspired by Latin, apply to a large number of fields, e. In Finland and Sweden, the title of kand. Depending on the goal of the student (a doctorate or a professional career) the master 2 can also be called a . To obtain a national diploma for the master 2 requires a minimum of one year of study after the master 1. A French . In particular fields, namely law, pharmacy and medicine, this distinction is not made. University courses are therefore single and last five to six years, after which the master\'s degree is awarded (in this case referred to as Laurea magistrale a ciclo unico). The old Laurea degree (Vecchio Ordinamento, Old Regulations), which was the only awarded in Italy before the Bologna process, is equivalent. Those who had already started the program could, upon completing it, bear the appropriate title (MSc, LL. M. Since these graduates do not have a separate bachelor\'s degree (which is in fact . Bearers of foreign master\'s degree are able to use the titles ir., mr. Those who received their mr., ir. Jansen, M. Sc., depending on the field in which the degree was obtained, since the ir., mr. The Best Language- Learning Software of 2. Learning a new language as an adult takes considerable time and effort. Having the right language learning software or app can make a huge difference. For example, are you trying to learn a few words for traveling, or do you need to be able to communicate with a business partner? Would you be thrilled to learn a language using MP3s during your commute time, or do you prefer to sit down at a computer and focus without distractions for a half hour each day? When it comes to learning a new language, what works for some people might not work for others. Some people need strict guidance on what to study and how often. Other people like the freedom to jump around in their language- learning journey, moving between reading passages and playing games designed to build vocabulary. Still others will get the most out of a program that lets them practice speaking and listening with real human beings. The Problem With Free Trials. It may seem like the best way to find out which programs is best for you is to use free trial versions of language- learning software until you land on one you like. Certainly there are plenty of free trials available, usually for at least one week, but there are major problems with free trials. For one, it takes time to try out language- learning programs. There\'s a reason most trials are a week or longer. You need at least that much time just to get a sense of how the system works, and to progress through enough material to see something other than the entry level exercises. You must commit to using the program for a week to make sure you\'re really seeing it for what it is. Second, and this point is related, for however many language- learning programs you try and don\'t like, you end up knocking away one week of time that you could have spent actually studying the language and getting absorbed into a program. It could easily amount to a month\'s worth of wasted time. Since 2. 01. 1, I\'ve tested dozens of language- learning software programs, from the biggest and best- known products to free language- learning mobile apps made by independent developers. Laurianne reviews popular language learning software and online courses. Compare them side by side and find out which one might work best for you. This article of the best language- learning software is based on my experience evaluating this wide variety of programs. Listed here are the highest- rated programs and apps, plus summaries that explain what kind of person would be most satisfied with them. Cr. They both earn the Editors\' Choice in the language- learning category, Rosetta Stone among paid programs, and Duolingo among free programs. Rosetta Stone has an excellent and stable system. While some people may complain that the content is repetitive and a little dry, the deductive learning method it uses stands out as being much more memorable than most other programs that use, say, flashcards as their primary learning mechanic. Rosetta Stone keeps track of your progress, scores you as you complete exercises, and repeats important ideas at the right intervals to help you keep them fresh in your mind. It also incorporates reading, writing, speaking, and listening equally, and it has optional e- tutoring sessions in which you can take a class with a real instructor via a Web conferencing setup. While Duolingo isn\'t as well- known as Rosetta Stone, its content is nearly as good, and it\'s completely free. Duolingo has programs for ten languages that are fully developed, plus ten more in various stages of being finished. Best Language Programs OnlineLearn a language for free: the five best websites Any language learner with a good internet connection is spoilt for choice when it comes to self-study. Users can participate in programs that are still in beta, though expect to encounter a few bugs and errors. But if you stick to learning one of the ten languages that are already finalized (languages listed below), you\'ll be very happy to use Duolingo to study and practice your skills every day. Brushing Up. Rosetta Stone and Duolingo are the best programs you\'ll find for beginners, but if you\'ve studied a language previously and are interested in brushing up your skills, you\'ll want a very different kind of program. Transparent Language Online is really good for more advanced language students who are picking up their tongue again. It has really tough proficiency tests at the end of each unit that allow the user to test out of lessons, which is great for learners who already have a good deal of experience in the language they\'re learning. Two programs that didn\'t quite make the cut for this list but still have something valuable to offer are Mango Languages and Yabla. Beginners are likely to struggle with these programs, but they both offer something really great for more advanced students: videos. Although Mango\'s core content is weak, it has a Premiere section where experienced speakers can watch an entire movie in French, Spanish, Japanese, or Mandarin Chinese with subtitles in that language and English. Then, in a follow- up section, you can walk through each scene\'s dialogue line- by- line. Yabla teaches all its material through videos, which are too difficult for beginners but provide a great way for more experienced speakers to listen to native speakers with a variety of accents. Special Features. A few programs have special features or aspects, and if they are appealing to you, they could make all the difference in your learning regimen. What is best programming language for Artificial Intelligence projects? What do you think is the best language to create a neuro. Learn a language online with Rosetta Stone. Learn to speak a new language. Try a free demo today! Pimsleur Comprehensive, for example, is old- school in the sense that the programs are mostly MP3 files. There\'s no interactive component with games and voice- recognition feedback. But if you want to study a language during your daily commute, Pimsleur is one of the best options. It also excels at teaching pronunciation, but on the flip side, you won\'t learn how to spell or read quickly with this program. Another special feature is e- tutoring, or live classes held via web- conferencing. Rosetta Stone offers them, but they\'re very tightly scripted. Living Language\'s e- tutoring sessions are better, and they\'re not expensive. If speaking with real people is how you learn best, but you can\'t get yourself to a physical classroom, Living Language might be your best option. Be aware, however, that not all languages have e- tutoring, though the most popular ones do. Beggars Can\'t Be Choosers. Most language- learning programs can teach you Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese. What do you do, then, if you need to learn Igbo, Irish, or Indonesian? The three programs most likely to have a hard- to- find language are Transparent, Pimsleur, and Mango Languages. Look to any of those programs. Mango may be available for free through your public library, although I personally have had a better learning experience with Transparent and Pimsleur and recommend those above Mango. Get Talking! Most software- based language programs will help you learn a base of vocabulary and grammar, but they won\'t turn you into a fluent speaker. For that, you need to practice with other human beings and come up with things you genuinely want to say, rather than words that an app are prompting you to learn. Using the apps listed below can teach you a lot, though, so develop a base knowledge first with them, and then go out and use your skills in the real world! FEATURED IN THIS ROUNDUPBabbel$1. Price% at %seller%. For an inexpensive, little- known online language- learning program, Babbel exceeds expectations, delivering high- quality courses in 1. Its lessons are more challenging than those of many other programs, however. Read the full review. What is the best programming language for me? Learn a language for free: the five best websites Websites, apps, e- books, online study communities, and translators can be great assets for language learning. But there are so many materials online, and so much range in quality, that learners can waste a lot of time testing new sites to find the perfect fit for them. Some prefer lots of visual aids and sleek graphics to hold their interest. Some like the motivation of quizzes, scores, and games so they can track their learning and compete with themselves. Some are drawn to grammar, while others prefer listen- and- repeat exercises. Pros: This site offers a well- rounded approach to language learning, with study options for reading, writing, listening and speaking. Also, the Busuu app options allow learners to take their lessons or review materials on the go. Cons: Features like grammar- focused lessons, video units, and printable PDF files are only available through the paid Premium membership. However, I received a free 7- day trial of the premium membership after registering with the site. Best for: Learners with some understanding of the language already. My beginner lesson in German immersed me into full sentences and dialogues, without much practice in sentence- building or pronunciation first. Learners study vocabulary and build it into simple sentences though reading, writing, listening and speaking, with grammar tips along the way. Pros: The graphics of this site keep learning organised and interesting, even on the app. Lessons are presented as a flow chart where users can see where their vocabulary can be recycled and build upon in future lessons. Cons: So far, the site only offers study material in six languages, all of them European. Best for: Learners who need a bit of structure in their lessons. Grammar notes also pop up during the lessons to point out new concepts like articles and conjugation. Though the site is basic, bear in mind that these materials are high- quality, designed by professional linguists with the goal of learner fluency. Pros: An impressive resource for lesser- studied languages, especially African tongues like Igbo and Shona. The audio recordings, while a bit fuzzy, are well organised. Cons: Compared to the graphics of the other sites, the materials seem austere, with simple black- and- white PDF texts. Also, the lessons are organised around grammar and repetition, which some learners dislike. Best for: People who learn best with the structure and rules of grammar- based study. These lessons could also serve as a great supplement to listen- and- speak material. This site describes its method as . Pros: Lessons are available in over 3. While the premium membership isn’t free, users can earn credit on the site by . This involves editing their writing or giving feedback on audio recordings. Cons: Like a dating service website, you may be inundated with friend requests and tutoring requests, especially if your native language is one that’s widely studied. Be prepared to sift through a lot of learner profiles. Best for: Learners who want networking options for their studies. Livemocha allows learners to access virtual classes or book an online session with a private tutor. The online community is a Facebook- style networking page with chat options and friend suggestions. The Portuguese mem for “yo quero,” for example, showed a man in a shop saying to the helpful clerk, “you care! Ohh!” Pros: The site is accessible and the method is clear and valid. The mem feature is a clever and original one. Users can even load their own original mems onto the site to help other learners. Unhappy with Xyrem Success Pharmacy - What can I do? Hi,I am without my Xyrem and am unfortunately awake right now (5: 1. AM) Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problems as me. I’ve been taking Xyrem for over a year now and have recently moved out of state and have had to change doctors. I scheduled my new appointment way in advance to make sure the new doc had plenty of time to get all the Xyrem info and paperwork filled out. I called the Xyrem Pharmacy to order a refill and they informed me that they did not have any new information about a new doc or a new Rx. I called the new doc’s office back and they informed me that all of the info. So, we re- checked the fax number and sent everything over once more. My doc’s office received confirmation, so I called the Xyrem success program phone number to make sure they received the fax. They told me that they didn’t get anything. I asked if maybe they should check the fax because it was just sent over and my doc received a confirmation. The rep said it would come straight to her and she didn’t have anything. Confused, I phoned my doc’s office agian, re- checked the fax number and had them fax it yet agian. Later, I called the pharmacy, and spoke to another rep, who said it would take 2. For questions regarding this. Must be enrol led in the Xyrem Success Program. Recipient Name Recipient Date of Birth Recipient Medicaid ID Number. FDA Drug Safety Communication. Xyrem is available only through the Xyrem Success Program. Other patients were reported to have ingested alcohol while taking Xyrem. A number of deaths occurred in. Unhappy with Xyrem Success Pharmacy – What can I do? NO ONE told me this earlier when I made 6 back and forth phone calls. Still though, no one could tell me for sure it they had actually gotten the information, all they said was that I would have to check back in two days. Learn from your success. Please indicate in the dropdown below if you would like to keep your phone number private. Both patients and their doctors have to join this Program. The Xyrem Success Program. The Xyrem Success Program. FDA Safety Changes: Sodium Oxybate Contraindicated With Alcohol. For questions regarding this. SD MEDICAIDPROVIDER NUMBER: Phone: (). Two days later (now out of medication for 3 nights total), I call to schedule a shipment. They tell me that they did receive the doctor enrollment form and a new prescription. The doc enrollment form has been processed and they are currently processing the new prescription. Then they say “THE NEW PRESCRIPTION WILL TAKE 2. HRS TO BE ENTERED INTO THEIR SYSTEM” I could understand if I was a brand new patient who had never taken it before and needed all the new materials and to first go through the whole process, but I’ve been taking this religiously for over a year now with no other interuptions. I couldn’t believe it. I tell the rep that I’ve run out of medication days ago and she basically says too bad, not her problem. I call back each day, but it is 4. The shipment is sheduled this past Thursday for me to receive on Friday (Been out of medication for 5 nights on Fri. I call the pharmacy back and they inform me that because of weather, my shipment cannot go out until Monday for me to receive it on Tues. I immediately start crying. I can’t help it by now, my quality of life declines so drastically without this medication and no one at the Xyrem Pharmacy seems to even care. I went to the Xyrem website to see if there were any question or comment form I could fill out or at least some type of satisfaction survey and could find nothing. Every Pharmacy Representative I ever talk to are so rude and unapoligetic. I just don’t know what to do. This is the only pharmacy I can get the medication from, and I pay a whole ton of money to them to get it. Also, when I first received my success program materials from them, it said they would always call me a week before I ran out of medication to set up a new shipment. I would just like to add that they have NEVER called me to set up a shipment, not even after the time for my meds to run out. Monday night will make a total of 9 nights without my medication. I’m crying right now just thinking about how I’m going to have to continue to go through the insomnia, the HH the SP, and of course the EDS and already returned C for so many more nights and days. Weekends are important for my husband and I especially because he works long hours during the days and it’s our main time to spend together. I hate that this weekend will be so bad for the both of us. It seems to get so much harder the longer I go without the Xyrem. Thank you for those who listened through this whole rant. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing any similar problems. I would truly appreciate any suggestions on what I can do. Who can I complain to? If I could go to another pharmacy, I would do it in a second. There just doesn’t seem to be any options for unhappy customers. Thanks again and pray for me this weekend. Can your old doctor call in a one month refill to tide you over? The fact that you’re in another state shouldn’t in itself make a difference. The doctor who prescribes my Xyrem is not in the same state as I am and never has been. The red tape in the medical/insurance industry is enough to drive anyone mad, isn’t it? My son had the flu this fall and he did not take xyrem for 3 days, he was throwing everything up. However, I just paid my co- pays, so now supposedly when they receive a new script from my sleep specialist, I’ll finally get my Xryem shipped off to me again. Can you believe the Xyrem Success Pharmacy stopped shipping my medication because I owed a $6 co- pay? So, I finally paid them, but my insurance should have taken care of it long ago, almost a year now! I owed $3 for two shipments that were sent nearly one year ago. So, I asked the pharmacy to send my shipment now that they are paid, and they told me that now my doctor needs to fax them all of the information to get my meds going again. I have to start all over again, which is all okay, I suppose, I didn’t really take it long enough on the first go around to even make it to the higher end of the dosage scale. I am kinda anxious to start on the Xyrem again. We’ll see how it goes. Cindy. You know you don’t even have to get to the higher end of the dosage scale. I believe you can take lower doses for however long you want to, but the sleep quality is best with the more you take. Now, I have read in books that Xyrem is somethng one can build a tolerance to and become dependent on as well. I’ve also found out that withdrawal can occur too. I definitely need to discuss this with my sleep doc again for clarity because I’ve read conflicting information on the internet and on this forum. I want to armed with information so I know what to expect. Unlike when I began taking stimulants, I was completely unaware of the addicting quality of these prescription drugs. I wish I’d have known then what I know now about becoming physically dependent on Adderrall. The fact is now it’s already too late. I’ve already become dependent on my stimulants, and I have severe withdrawal if I’m without. I’ll let you all know what my sleep specialist says about the Xyrem. If he doesn’t know the answers, I’ll keep digging and asking until I find them. Cindy. I guess my question sorta fits in here? My doctor said he’d fax the script ASAP, and that was the 1. Xyrem already so is registered with the pharmacy and whatnot. Is this wait normal before even hearing anything about it again, or are they scratching their heads wondering what to do about my insurance (it will pay for all scripts, less the 1. I’m worried that’s going to leave me stranded Really fast with the cost of Xyrem and Provigil ? I emailed my doctor last week to check in about how the Provigil was going, and mentioned that I hadn’t heard from the Xyrem ppl yet, so I just thought I’d ask here 1st before I started whining to him again, since he’s probably done his part and sent the script. If the wait is usually short though, maybe I should email my doc and see if he could call and ask about the status of it or something. If it usually takes this long, then I guess I’m just impatient and antsy to maybe finally go to bed and wake up feeling good in the morning instead of kicking around unable to get up and cycling through tons of dreams after my alarm clock goes off the first time many days . Now, I’d have to pay out of pocket, but I would get reimbursed once Cobra entered my payment and my coverage was reinstated (big mess that left me unisured for a week until the backdating ) and they said they’d refile the paperwork to the insurance as soon as I called with my Cobra number. It sucks that people are having a tough time with the Xyrem Success program. My doctor said he’d fax the script ASAP, and that was the 1. Xyrem already so is registered with the pharmacy and whatnot. I’m amazed they take a faxed Rx given it’s a Schedule I drug! When I was taking Adderall I had to have the original hard copy to take to the pharmacy because of the Schedule II of amphetamines. My doctor would send the Rx to me undated as these Schedule type drugs have to be filled within a week as I recall. Every month I had to go through this. A real pain especially given there was a better drug than amphetamine for treatment. Considering I take another med that’s refilled at the pharmacy every 3 weeks at a different date every month, it makes getting my meds even more expensive because of the ever increasing gas prices. My daughter has the same issue with Ritalin. A new Rx must be written every month by her doctor & taken to the pharmacy. It was so much easier with pemoline! This is all very frustrating to me. The new sleep doc mentioned trying Xyrem on me? My then- doctor refused to allow any other arrangement than to have me come in, at a time he scheduled and I ended up paying for, to have him write it out while I sat there and then hand it to me for me to go off and fill before it expired (1 from an old prescription pad expired the evening of the day after it was written!!!). I tried to talk to him about finding a secure place at the clinic to have it kept where I could show ID and pick it up or something, but he refused to talk about it and I was stuck trying to schedule time the 1 day every 2 weeks that he was in town. Since you can only get Xyrem from the central pharmacy, it would make sense that doctors could fax it directly though, because you could probably mail it too, but really any way you do it there’s chance of something going wrong along the way, and at least fax would be faster. Can you imagine if you had to present a written script to a central pharmacy in one location somewhere in the US every month to get it? Hopefully I’ll hear soon. |
